Dr. Abdalla Idris Ali
Dr. Abdalla Idris Ali served as imam and director, and founded the first full-time Islamic school in Toronto, Canada. He served as the principal of ISNA Islamic Community School for 17 years. He also served on ISNA’s Executive Council, Majlis Ash-Shura, Youth and Education Committee and as president of ISNA for two terms. He is the chair of the Islamic Media Foundation, a member of NAIT Board, a founding member of CISNA, and chair of ISNA Education Forum. He is currently working as the executive director of ISNA Canada.
Dr. Amjad Qourshah
A former lecturer at the Faculty of Shari’ah (Islamic Studies), Jordan University from 2003–2018. From 2019–present, a resident scholar, lecturer, trainer and family spiritual issues consultant at Al-Dar Foundation, Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He obtained his MA Degree in Qur’anic Exegeses (Interpretation) from Jordan University in 1997, and his PhD in Comparative Religions and Christian-Muslim Relations from Birminghamniversity, UK, 2003
Dr. Khurram Khan
Dr. Khurram Khan served on the board of directors and executive committee of MAC in several capacities. His focus is on working with youth and young adults to achieve their professional and personal goals. He is also an adviser to Islamic organizations and an Islamic lecturer in the community. Professionally, he is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. He has a Masters in Epidemiology and has published many peer-reviewed research articles in the specialty area of Digestive diseases. He enjoys studying history, playing sports, and spending time with his family.
Sh. Mahdi Tirkawi
Mahdi Tirkawi est Imam à la mosquée Al-Rawdah (Montréal, Québec). Après l’obtention de son baccalauréat en France, il s’est dirigé vers Le Caire pour suivre des études de droit musulman à l’université Al-Azhar.
Il collabore avec l’association des étudiants musulmans de l’Université de Montréal et enseigne à l’école Le Savoir (école secondaire). Il est responsable également de la plateforme Jenna Project qui offre notamment un service de conférences et séminaires autour de la spiritualité et du mode de vie islamique dédié aux adultes francophones.
Dr. Abdulazeem Abozaid
Dr. Abdulazeem holds Ph.D. and Master in Islamic Financial Law. He also holds three BAs in Islamic Law, Arabic language, and English Literature; two higher studies diplomas in Islamic Law and Human Sciences. He has extensive working experience as a Lecturer at Damascus University since 1998, then at International Islamic University Malaysia, specializing in Islamic Financial Law. Currently, he is an associate professor at Qatar Foundation, Islamic Finance Program.
Sh. Mohammad Z. Aboughoda
Mohammad Zahid Aboughoda is a well-grounded, frequent khatib and speaker across Canada. Studied at the hand of his late father Sheikh Abdul Fattah Aboughoda, a great scholar and dai’ya. Wrote and translated books in the fields of education, manners, literature and history. A former member of the Board of Directors of ISNA, MAS, MAC and ICNA. He holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Commerce at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Jasser Auda
Professor Jasser Auda is a scholar of Islamic legal theory, especially the higher purposes (maqasid) of the Islamic law. He is the President of Maqasid Institute Global, a think tank registered in the USA, UK, Malaysia and Indonesia, a Visiting Professor at the Centre for the Study of Islam at Carleton University, Canada, a Visiting Professor at the Rule of Law Institute, Faculty of Law, Loyola University Chicago, and Al-Shatibi Chair for Maqasid Studies at the International Peace University in South Africa. He has a PhD in the philosophy of Islamic law from the University of Wales, UK, and a PhD in systems analysis from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Dr. Ali Al-Halawani
Dr. Ali is a lifelong student of the world-renowned Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. In his youth, he completed the intermediate/high school curriculum of Al-Azhar. Then moved on to complete his Bachelor’s degree and graduate studies there as well. He obtained a Master’s degree in linguistics and the translation of Islamic and shari’ah-based terms. He completed a PhD in Computational Linguistics and Translation of the Meanings of the Quran (Qur’anic Studies).
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Meguid
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Meguid has been an Assistant Professor of Religion at Syracuse University since 2011. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Philosophy at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in the same year.
His areas of specialization include the history of philosophy and philosophy of religion with a special focus on late 18th, 19th and early 20th-century German philosophy, as well as Islamic philosophy, theology, and mysticism. He has significantly contributed to the Priton Encyclopedia of Islamic Political Thought and has also contributed to other books and articles on Islamic philosophy and political realism.
Dr. Jamal Badawi
Dr. Jamal Badawi is a Muslim Canadian, well-known author, activist, preacher and speaker on Islam. Dr. Badawi completed his undergraduate studies in Cairo, Egypt and obtained his Masters and Ph.D. in Business Administration at Indiana University. He is a former professor of both the Religious Studies and Business Management departments at the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Badawi is the author of many books and articles on Islam, with his most recent publication titled ‘Gender Equity in Islam.’
Sh. Ahmed Khalil
Sheikh Ahmed Khalil is a second-generation Canadian Muslim, inspirational speaker, imam, and da’wah coordinator. He is the manager of the MAC Islamic Centre in Ottawa, ON, where he also serves as the imam and khateeb. He has more than 20 years of experience in da’wah and Islamic activism. He has a diploma in Film Production from Vancouver, where he worked on integrating da’wah through the media. He has a diploma in Shariah and Islamic Studies, from Samaha Academy, under the supervision of Sheikh Jasim Muhalhal Al-Yaseen and another from Zad Academy under the supervision of Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjid.
Dr. Monzer Kahf
Dr. Monzer Kahf is a Syrian American professor of Islamic Economics and Finance. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah in 1975. He has made significant contributions to Islamic Economics and Finance. His contributions include being a collaborating expert at the Islamic Fiqh Academy, and IMF Consultant on Islamic Finance. Dr. Monzer also served as the Head of Research in IRTI-IDB, Senior Research Economist, Director of Finance in the Islamic Society of North America, and a few other positions.
